I have great fun with the sales and it’s something I do when ever I have the extra money. Powered by included AC adapter or requires four D batteries. Graymark 536 AM Kit Radio I often go to junk stores, yard sales and other sorts of places in an attempt to find new and interesting things, donor equipment and good deals on everyday stuff. Requires additional longwave antenna to receive LW signal additional external shortwave antenna can enhance SW reception. Its built-in horizontal antenna rotates 360° for precise AM reception while its telescoping antenna pulls in FM, SW, and aircraft band signals. However, much to my chagrin, the kit did not. In addition to FM reception (88-108 MHz), it can listen to civilian aircraft radio transmissions in the 117-137 MHz frequency band. Hi: I recently purchased a Graymark 512 transistor radio kit, unbuilt, on E-Bay. The radio also operates in the shortwave band (1711 kHz - 30 MHz) with single-sideband (SSB) tuning for listening to two-way shortwave communications.

Operating at 100-519 kHz, just below the AM band (520-1710 kHz), longwave signals are used by those interested in low-frequency experimental radio (LowFER) communications as well as ITU Region 1 broadcasters in Europe and as far away as Mongolia.

I'm including a schematic and a parts list so you guys can follow along and when I'm finished and if it doesn't work, perhaps with the help of this Forum, we can get it working.Unlike typical shortwave radios, this is the model that also receives longwave broadcasts. I'm going on with the build and we'll see what happens. When they returned it there was a note that it had been "repaired" because there was an error in the documentation that came with the kit! That was 50 years ago and I have no idea what that error was. The Graymark Manual was very well written. My instructor went through it with a fine tooth comb and couldn't find anything wrong with it. He reminded me that when I built it it didn't work. I was talking to my twin brother about this radio recently.

When I was in High School, I built one of these kits in my Electronics class. I used my CAD program to come up with a very reasonable layout of the chassis. I've ordered some parts and they should be here within the week. A forum member graciously provided a very nice jpeg of the front panel and some other parts. I am presently engaged in making my own kit.
